Our Story

We like to think we’ve achieved quite a bit, but here are the highlights so you can judge for yourself.

1995 – LEWIS is founded by Chris Lewis. We rapidly attract a number of consumer and tech PR clients and establish a reputation for our 'corporate journalism' approach to PR.
 
1997 – We open our first European public relations office in Munich, Germany. We become a top fifteen IT PR agency in the UK.
 
1998 – We open a second European public relations office in Paris, France, as well as establishing our first global communications presence in North America, based in San Diego, CA.
 
1999 – We become the first PR agency to launch a Virtual Press Room service - an online environment where editors and analysts can gain 24x7 access to client material. We launch a second North American PR office in Boston, MA.
 
2000 – We open an office in the Netherlands to cover the Benelux region.
 
2001 – We enter the top five in IT PR rankings following a string of successful campaigns. PRWEEK votes LEWIS 'Hi-Tech Agency to Watch'. Our first office in Asia Pacific is opened, based in Sydney, Australia.

2002 – In Europe, LEWIS Sweden opens its doors in Stockholm. We are the first PR agency to use video in repurposing coverage and streaming it across the Web.
 
2003 – We complete our first acquisition providing a presence in Singapore. In the US, PRWEEK ranks LEWIS as the fastest growing tech agency, following the opening of an office in San Francisco, CA. Meanwhile, LEWIS UK tops the ranking in the tech PR sector and enters the top-ten generalist agency table. We open offices in Spain (Madrid) and Italy (Milan). LEWIS is now the 12th largest global agency, according to PRWEEK.
 
2004 – We continue to grow internationally, opening up in Hong Kong.
 
2006 – We are awarded International Consultancy of the Year finalist by PRWEEK and win CNET Networks, UK Technology PR Campaign of the Year.
 
2008 – We open an office in Warsaw. We win Bulldog Reporter Best Technology Campaign Award (US) and are ranked number two in PR JOURNAL’S IT PR league table (Germany).
 
2009 – We strengthen our Iberian presence with the first LEWIS Portuguese office in Lisbon. We make our largest ever acquisition - leading European communications agency, Leads United. US Holmes Report names us Technology Agency of the Year, we're announced as a SC Magazine Awards Europe 2009 finalist and we are awarded Small Agency of the Year by PR News. We launch ‘Digital Vision’ - a global program to educate and implement social media tools and tactics across the business.

2010 – We celebrate our 15th birthday and announce our 15th consecutive year of growth. We also win the prestigious SC Magazine PR agency of the Year award. In October we make our first US acquisition, leading social media agency, Page One PR, which rebrands to LEWIS Pulse.

2011 – We grew 11% and entered the Holmes Report Rankings 2011 as a Top 40 PR agency.

2012 – We opened our doors in Amsterdam, our second office in The Netherlands. Pfeffers PR agency rankings crowned LEWIS the number one tech agency in Germany for the second year running. We wrote an award-winning guide to digital communications called 'The Changing Face of Communications'. Journalists voted us into PR Week's Most Rated Agencies Top 10 Technology Agencies and we received a Highly Commended in PR Week's Best Places to Work Large Agency category. We launched Kupambana, the industry's first not-for-profit initiative to champion the adoption of visual and creative arts in communications. And our campaigns were recognized by the Chartered Institute of Marketing Excellence Awards, European Excellence Awards, SABRE Awards, Bulldog Reporter and Digi Corp Comms to name a few!
